- Identify all energy sources before starting work: electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, gravity, stored spring.
- Each worker applies their own lock and tag - one lock per person, no exceptions.
- Verify zero energy after locking out: try to start the equipment.
- Only the person who applied the lock removes it.
- Stored energy (capacitors, springs, raised loads) must be released or restrained.
