Why it matters
A knocked-over cylinder with a sheared valve becomes a rocket; leaking fuel gas becomes a bomb.
Key points
- Secure cylinders upright with chains or straps - always, even empties.
- Valve caps on whenever regulators are off.
- Separate oxygen and fuel gas in storage (20 ft / 6 m or a fire wall).
- Check hoses and fittings for leaks with soapy water, never a flame.
- Close valves and bleed lines at the end of each shift.
