Why it matters
WHMIS is the law in every province - and the labels only work if workers can read them.
Key points
- GHS pictograms: know all eight; the health hazard (starburst chest) marks chronic dangers.
- Supplier labels on original containers, workplace labels on transferred product.
- SDS access must be immediate - binder or app, workers must know where.
- Training must cover the products on YOUR site, not just generic slides.
- Report unlabeled containers - do not open or use them.
